What you can expect

As an Constable with the OPP, you'll join patrol in full uniform and a police cruiser. You will be expected to engage in proactive community policing and answer 9-1-1 calls for police assistance on major highways and country roads, as well as provide backup to the Regional and Local Police Services as required. You'll have various Use of Force equipment to choose from to help you deal with situations if officer presence and communication alone are not working. You'll be expected to use your radio to communicate with the Provincial Communications Centre and other officers in a professional manner.

Application requirements

In order to apply to the GORP Ontario Provincial Police department, you must meet the following requirements.

  • Minimum of 16 years of age
  • Able to speak, read, and write fluent English
  • Have a working, quality microphone
  • Have a Computer capable of accessing FiveM

Specialized units

All cadets must go through our basic training program and a probationary period before being eligible to patrol. Once completed, you'll take on the rank of 4th Class Constable and will be assigned to a patrol division where you will remain until you are promoted to 3rd Class.

Once the rank of 3rd Class Constable is earned, you will have the opportunity to apply for a specialized unit within the Ontario Provincial Police.
